Day 2 - Choosing A Niche
Objectives:
- Brainstorm three niches
- Researched Keywords in the particular niches
- Pick the BEST niche
"A thousand miles journey starts with a single step!" A Chinese saying.
Why research? Why not just jump into any niche that apparently promise opportunities? Or simply, should we
brainstorm at all?
"Opportunity Cost" is defined as the cost you give up at any moment that you pick to do, instead of the next
best possible alternative, or simply stated "Best Alternative Forgone".
For example, you are choosing to read this lesson instead of picking other things to do is already a choice. You
may have other things to do, or perhaps you can go to sleep instead of reading this, hence there is a cost involved
in anything in life at any moment in time for you, (no matter what!)
Why is this related to brainstorming?
Because niche-picking is a choice of selecting the best possible niche that you will work on. If you do this wrong,
you will end up picking up something not of the best value to you.
There are so many opportunities online that promise you the best niche package that you can pick and sell -
however, they may not present the best alternative for you, because they are not unique and not created uniquely
with YOU in mind. Besides, they may not be done by true professionals for that particular niche.
What's the end result?
A lose-lose scenerio - Your readers lose because they lose their time in reading some wasted material. You
lose because your readers/ customers lost her trust in you.
Internet marketing, at the end of the day, is about delivering valuable information to your intended readers and/
or customers. If you do it right, you will be able to rank in profits. Do it wrong, you are doomed and waste weeks,
months or even years online.
Before we get into the core matter of what brainstorming. There are a couple of factors needed to take in place
before you get your wheel spinning into developing material to serve that particular niche. A choice you now make
will impact the rest of the remaining journey.
Let me repeat that:
A choice you now make will impact the rest of the remaining journey.
A choice you now make will impact the rest of the remaining journey.
A choice you now make will impact the rest of the remaining journey.
If you are purely interested in making money alone and after short term opportunities, this may not matter, but
if you are here for the long term and would like to deliver only the best information.
Therefore you need to understand yourself perfectly before you can even think what's the niche is for you.
Remember not just any niche, but a niche that you will be excited to work on.
Early in my internet marketing career, I did not know what I should do, I did not know what I was interested in. I
picked a niche, which I was fairly acquainted with, but not "hot" about.?I was told not to follow the internet
marketing niche. I was wrong at the end, because what I found later that I WAS TRULY interested in internet
marketing niche, helping people to use the net to better serve others.
By picking a wrong niche, I was still doing okay and earned a couple hundred "adsense" along with a couple of
affiliate sales, but that was never I was interested in.
Therefore, it's important that you get this right at the very beginning. I can't stress it
enough. =====Sidenote=====
You should have downloaded the ebook "Scam Proof Marketer" (which is listed in royrecommends.com
Day 1. You should have done the corresponding exercise before going any further.
It gives you an instant mind boost of who you are and what you want to do with your internet
marketing career. =====Sidenote=====
Site Concept
Your site concept should not too broad, nor too narrow. Most importantly, it must excite YOU. Yes, it's like
choosing your partner for life :)
Some niche are just overcrowded, no matter how profitable they may seem. Say for example, a casino niche, super
profitable niche and tons of buyers every day. But at the same time, thousands of savvy internet marketers are
exploiting this industry day in and day out.
Do you have the ability to compete?
Perhaps you can, but you may need to spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours before leveling the level
ground with the existing competitors.
Finally, is that something you really want to do? Is that something you will be proud of yourself doing even if
you rake in profits in the niche? One thing is very important, you may be stressed about earning money online at
the moment, but what's worse is that when you have the money then you find out that what you really to do perhaps
might not have to do with money.?
Therefore, why not pick something that you really want to do, as well as it has the monetarization depth as
well? After that you should start looking into the market and see what kind of solutions is being offered in the
market/ niche that you are after.
Write down what you love?
What do you do in your day job?
What have you learnt in the past?
what kind of solutions you have provided?
Additional resources:
Two good places to gather more market information are: Ebay and Amazon
Simply because those are where the buyers hog!
Also you may also search on the niche forum and read the post and get the understanding of what PROBLEMS people
are having. What's the nature of the problemsDo the problems get solved by some kind of informaiton or by some kind
of physical products.Listen closely to what people say.?
A good niche forum tools is Big Board.
When you have a rough idea of the market, then you may start to look into the keywords research. Personally, I
recommend Market Samurai. It's a very good tool that provides you tons of market research information.
If you tight on budget, you can always go after the holy grail of keyword research - google external keyword
research tool.
