Marketer VS. A Business Owner

Are you interested in internet marketing, aka earning money online? I recommend you first understand what's the nature of internet marketing, then we may approach the topic in a systemic matter.

You need to understand one fundamental that is true of any business, which is key no matter what business format (online or business) it is.

In order to receive, you need to give.  You need to give what people are asking for, otherwise, you won't have a business.

That's just the beginning.

Do you know what's the one thing that ALL business needs?  It's recurring revenue.   If you've been lost so far, it's understandable, because every internet marketer is trying to convince you they have the "magic bullet", read on. But, here is the thing, internet marketing does not equate to internet business.

What's the difference you asked?  Internet marketing means earning money online, but internet business is a systematic approach of creating life-changing value in an on-going manner.

Here is the three objectives that you need to strive if you want a sustainable online business:

1) Recurring income/ life time income: 

For example, web hosting business is a sustainable business because every website needs a hosting - just like real estate.  Think for a minute, why is real estate business is perhaps one of the most offline business?  First, it's ever-demanding.  Property owners only need to perform their contract once, and they will obtain their income for months, if not years!

What do we earn in this with your internet marketing career?  Find opportunities that you can sell as if you were a real estate owners. Sure you can sell an ebook to earn money, but that's not sustainable in the long run, isn't it?  There are many online example of this business type:

2) Building a subscriber list

Without a list, you won't be able to have a long term growing business, hence, you need to learn how to build a list.  You need a list building tool.  You may check out how autoresponder works.

3) Partners/ Affiliates

You need partners to build your business.  For that to happen, you need to implement a good affiliate program in order to setup your team properly.

Personally, I use Delavo.  To be honest, it's not the most intuitive system on earth, because it's so comprehensive which makes it a bit complicated for internet marketing beginners.  As a matter of fact, I am not yet 100% familiar with the system, as it's still evolving.

In 2009 and 2010, internet marketers are getting it - they are no longer trying to grab the fast cash online - but also develop ways to achieve the three objectives above.

Many of them create a low cost bait for people to grab, e.g. $1 subscription for people to hook on and then try to secure their recurring business.
